Welcome to the AEC's School Nurse Page!!! My name is Beth Gilliland. I am very excited to be the School Nurse at AEC. I am at AEC on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week. Please see below for some important information regarding your student's health. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via phone or email. I look forward to working with you and your child!
If your child will need medication during the school day (both prescription or over the counter) your child’s doctor needs to complete a green medication administration form. You may request this form in the office. A new form must be filled out each new school year. Children may not carry medications to school. Medications must be in the original bottle properly labeled with the student’s name. The school can not give the first dose of a medication. Phone permission is not allowed.
For example, if your child needs medication for a headache and a green medication administration form is not on file and medication is not at the school; a parent must come to the school to administer the medication.
To help prevent the spread of infectious disease: students need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school and antibiotics need to be given for 24 hours before returning to school. Please remember to practice frequent hand washing at home and school.
Attached you will find a copy of the Medication Administration form and an enrollment form for Health E Schools or Telemedicine. School Nurses have been trained to work with a health care provider online to see students if needed during the day while at school.
If your child needs assistance with Dental Care, please contact me. An enrollment form can be sent home for them to receive services on the Mobile Dental Clinic.
I look forward to assisting you and your child this year in providing health care services at AEC!
